![]() ![]() The other exception is the island of Viggsö, several miles north-east in the archipelago, where the whole band, including manager Stig Anderson, held properties during the 70s. While it’s not hard to uncover the various homes of band members over the years, only Frida and Benny’s 1974 flat in Gamla Stan (The Old Town), at number 21 on the cobbled street of Baggensgatan, is worth visiting – particularly since they’re all privately owned. Oh, and you can take an Arrival-themed VR helicopter ride to the island of Viggsö (see below), taking in sights of the dramatic archipelago that leads from Stockholm to the Baltic Sea. You’ll also find a piano linked to one in Benny’s home that reproduces whatever he’s playing at the time, and a mysterious phone that only members of the group can ring (ring). ![]() Alongside the classic über-70s satin-and-sequin stage outfits and other memorabilia, there are all sorts of interactive displays and some properly impressive recreations, including the band’s Polar Studios and even the Brighton stage where they won the 1974 Eurovision. Opened in 2013 with the involvement of Björn and Benny, it began as a permanent home for the travelling ABBAWORLD exhibition but has expanded impressively. Even the longstanding Gröna Lund amusement park here has a connection, as the venue for early concerts by the band, but your prime destination should be Djurgårdsvägen 68 and ABBA The Museum. There’s only one place to start: the island of Djurgården, to the east of the city and home to a host of ABBA-related locations. ![]()
